My oldest son is a high school graduate. I’m very proud of him! Congratulations Cameron. You are an amazing man! And…I’m still taller than you.

My sweet Cambree is three! You fill our hearts with laughter. You fill our house with energy. You fill our faces with kisses! Life would not be quite the same without our Pennsylvania born girl. You are adorable, kindhearted, funny, giving, and full of words (I love to hear you talk!). You have a delightful

Christmas Eve at ValleyPoint!

Published on December 23rd, 2013

I’d like to personally invite you to join me for one of our Christmas Eve gatherings at ValleyPoint Church.  These are some of my favorite events, and it would be great to see many enjoy these celebrations.  These nights will include images, music, a children’s choir, and thoughts that capture the warmth of Christmas.  Come

By definition, this word thankfulness means…gratefulness: warm friendly feelings of gratitude.  We just walked through yet another Thanksgiving holiday, and this is becoming one of my favorite days.  Beyond the food, the slower schedule, and the start of the holiday season, I enjoy it because of the people that surround me.  Each Thanksgiving, we pause

I believe God has a great future for ValleyPoint Church.  These are truly exciting times as we dream about building a permanent home for our faith community.  This “Real Home” will be a place where God’s name will be made famous.  It will be a place for others to begin their own spiritual journey.  It

My son Cameron turned 18 today.  I’m really enjoying this time with him.  I would like to slow the pace as life will soon change for him…and us…and our family.  But this is good, and he has a bright future.  Happy Birthday Cameron.  I love your quick wit, sarcasm, and intuition.  You’re a great thinker.

Caden’s 7!

Happy Birthday Mr. Caden!  It’s an absolute joy to be your father.  I love your imagination, resourcefulness, and inquisitive mind.  I love how you interact with our family.  You have a special place in all of our hearts.  Enjoy being seven!  It’s a great number.  I hope you have a fantastic birthday and another great

I’ve had the chance to watch my kids interact with their cousins the past few days.  It’s a true study in human behavior.  Sixteen cousins in one house creates quite the anthropological study.  They’re actually doing well together, and I have enjoyed watching different groups develop.  There’s an older group (15-17 year olds), a middle

old houses

Published on July 12th, 2013

I’m starting to get really interested in old houses.  I live in a new house…but I like old houses now.  There is beauty in the imperfections.  There is simplicity in design.  There also seems to be a story behind every structure.  The story is often less about the home and more about someone who lived

Off-Script Family Thought #2

Published on February 22nd, 2013

Off-Script Thought #2:  Move beyond trying to “fix” everyone and practice compassion.  Compassion is the key for the off-script family. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?  1 John 3:17 Again, compassion is the key.
