Marriage…The Journey

Published on January 21st, 2012

We just walked through a weekend at ValleyPoint Church where we talked with our couples about the value of “fighting for their marriages.”  Brian Pipping, the lead pastor from Harvest Bible Chapel in Lake Zurich, Illinois led our sessions.  Here are some of his thoughts that captured my attention.

> It’s not unconditional love until it seems irrational.
> First words matter more.
> Words of the wise bring healing.
> When you lay an egg with your words, it’s hard to reel that back.
> God can restore what Satan destroys.
> Rebuild relationships by rebuilding your empathy.
> The myth that a better option exists outside of your marriage is incredibly dangerous.
> Make your spouse curious not convicted.
> Lies infer self-protection.  Self-protection promotes isolation.
> It’s not about fixing your spouse…it’s about removing the rocks in your marriage so that love and respect can be unconditional.
