…tis the season for choices

Published on December 3rd, 2010

I imagine that many of us have mixed feelings when it comes to what we’re now living (the Holiday Season!).  Here’s the thing though…the next few weeks actually provide amazing opportunities for life-change.  It’s possible for us to accomplish a lot more than just shipping and eating over the next 30(ish) days!   Here’s the key in order for that to happen…we have to choose now.  If we wait, we’ll get swept up in all of the “stuff” and “events”, and we’ll soon be staring at a new year.  It comes down to our choices.  Here are just a few choices that could make this season something that we’ll never forget.

Choice #1:  Dream big.  You were created for more! Don’t just float through the season hoping that it will disappear.  Don’t shut down.  Be awake to everything that is happening around you.

Choice #2:   Ask God to take the lead.  It seems that many people walk through this season and have thoughts about God.  Maybe we even have more thoughts about God now than any other time of the year.  Think about this…maybe God is asking for more than just a few thoughts about him during the month of December.

  • Maybe, during this season, He wants you to trust completely in Him.  Perhaps you’ve been toying with that, but you’re just not there.  Maybe this is the season.
  • Maybe, during this season, God is looking for you to right a wrong, repair a relationship, or seek forgiveness.  Do it.  Don’t miss your chance.

Choice #3:   Check habits now.  In “the crunch” of a busy season, habits can spin out of control.  Bad habits, if left unchecked, can cause us to lose focus on what really matters.  Check now.  It’s never fun but very helpful in order to avoid a life tailspin.

Tis the season!  May it be filled with wonder, surprise, and real joy (finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go our way) for all us.
