I recently picked up a snappy, little book called The Decision Book. It provides 50 models for strategic thinking. A model is given with a visual tool. I particularly liked the rubber band model. It answers the question, “how do you decide between two good options?” This model is similar to “what are the pros and cons?” but replaces it with two different, positive questions.
> What is holding you?
> What is pulling you?
I’ve been using this a bit lately and when I find that there is something pulling me (there is a “draw”), I start to move toward that option. How do you choose between two good options?
