tough conversations

Published on September 29th, 2012

Tough conversations are…tough.  They can take an emotional toll that leaves you absolutely drained!  However, they are unavoidable.  It’s something that must be done whether we want to or not.  Ever been there?  While I don’t look forward to tough conversations, I have learned a few things that help.

+ Know what you need to say.  What needs to be said, and what we feel like saying may be two different things.
+ Think it through…and then write it down.
+ Get outside perspective and advice from a mentor.
+ Speak the truth in love.
+ Be quick to forgive.

Had a tough conversation recently?  What have you learned?

  1. What needs to be said and what we feel like saying may be two different things.
    Very true.
I also have found that thinking it through is BIG as well. I like the part about writing it down.
