leaves…

Published on November 25th, 2011

My wife started this tradition several years ago where we write out some of the different things that we’re thankful for on leaves (fake ones).  We then hang them up in our house as a reminder.  Honestly, I wasn’t’ crazy about the idea when it started.  Now, I look forward to it.  It’s a simple exercise that makes you stop and think for a moment.  Our oldest son was pretty young when we started this, and I can remember some of his first “thankful” leaves.  He was thankful for his Lego Bionicles (what ever happened to those things?).  It’s fun watching my kids think about some of the things that have impacted them.  We have sixteen leaves hanging so far this year.  My leaves…

> I’m thankful for my wonderful wife.  She’s awesome.  Love her.

> I’m thankful for six beautiful children.  They’re crazy and make me laugh.

> I’m thankful for our first Thanksgiving with Cambree Madison.  She’s nine months now and the “first” celebrations and holidays are coming to a close.

> I’m thankful for ValleyPoint Church!  I love my church family.

Leaves.  Great reminders.  Fun recollections.  Real gratitude.
